“I want to create an expression that is somewhere between CHILD and ADULT”.
EUM HAYOUNGThe artist revealed that the title of this solo exhibition, 《MY LITTLE》, refers to his small life of traveling back and forth between home and studio. The title, which reflects the artist's concern to create paintings that generate various stories in a life where familiarity is more important than novelty, can also be read as 'my little' or 'my lovely', which makes us think about the artist's childlike painting style and childlike texts, such as the lines from ‘Peter Pan’, which he often borrows.

My work starts with ‘Text’.
It could be a few words in a spam email that landed in my inbox, a cleverly crafted phrase by the sender, or a specific line from a Disney fairy tale from the past.
I tend to stay with English words, which I think has a lot to do with the fact that it's not my first language, so I see the shape of the word as an image first, rather than the perception of reading it in print.

SINGULARITY SERIESWhile you're in your own world, breaking out of your own imagination, you place a green plant next to a vase-like figure in a huge way, projecting all liveliness or reality onto it. And I maximize the unreality of the rest of the space. I place the text and the plant as a clue that my paintings are virtual and as a tool to disrupt the existing imaginary order.
